Buying a bare hull is just one of the many many ways you can realise the craft of your dreams, and with a little knowledge of working with wood, that realisation soon ends with a canoe you can be proud of for a comparitively lower financial outlay of buying a canoe off the shelf.

Review & Pictures by Andy James, originally submitted Here
Most of the hard work was making jigs for the router and working out spacings for seats, yoke etc, made it all in softwood for a start to see if i could do it without cocking up the lovely ash timber.
Winston wondering what his dad was up to now?,
Fastening the inner gunnels together prior to routing
Routing slots in inner gunnels.
Then i had to make a router table to carry my router. This the job Easier/Safer, for rounding the edges of the slots.
Then it's time to see if they fit where i want them!
Fitting the inner gunwales.
Now it's on with the outer gunnels.
Then the other side.
Deckplates glued up and in position.
This is my favorite picture as it shows the natural curves on the canoe prior to yoke fitting.
Then it's time for the seats, dowelled, glued and screwed.
Glued and cramped together.
Sorry hav'nt any more pics of seats but this was at the end of saturday afternoon last june.
Then first thing sunday morning and SHE FLOATS!
Over the next week or so the handles, front seat and a few other bits were finished, Really pleased with the finished product and have had many a fine trip in her since.
See you on the water soon!
