Hi Folks,

I've just booked myself onto a Coracle Making course - 3 days in Wales. Thought I'd share the information in case anyone else wanted to make their own boat

Dates are 17-19th April
Place is Middle Ninfa Farm and Bunkhouse, Llanellen, Abergavenny

There is bunkhouse accommodation and I believe those not interested in making a boat can do some Willow Sculpture or just enjoy the area.

I've not been there before, but I can't wait to make my own boat. And every canoeist needs a Coracle! ... to teach sculling draw if nothing else

I'd be very interested in hearing the TT for this....Sounds like an excellent "short break"....

There's probably a very good reason why small boats progressed from being basket shaped. Look forward to the TT. You can probably call it "Going round in circles"

I have no idea whether my skills are good enough to make one either, but until you try you never know. Once it is made and if it floats you will be welcome to have a go in mine, if I bring it along to one of the meets ... are you going to the April camp?

Or alternatively you could join me in making your own!!

I saw a programme a few years ago about someone taking a class on the river Severn and fancied having a go from then. Maybe I'll have a go when funds allow.
