Know what you mean, literally! Fuji Finepix S5700 are definitely NOT waterproof. Sad
Just bought a compact Kodak C913 9.2mp 3 x optical and 5 x digital and has a load of scene features and for under £50.00 from Argos seemed sensible.

Still prefer my digi SLR for motion shots Wink

Canon 1Ds MkIII, but I would not take it on a canoe...

I would take a Canon G10 tho

to be honest this is as far down the camera quality ladder that I would go as I could be confident that I could sell images from it

A friend runs a business called Aquaphot
http://www.aquaphot.com/ShopFiles/Sealife%20ECOshot.htm
I do not know the camera but Kevin at aquaphot spends a lot of time canoeing so would be worth contacting.

I can see one of these fitted on a SWWC would take some great shots Wink
Quite neat toy Graeme. I like the look of these.

Any idea of that most important of all considerations, £££ ? Wink

Ah yes the slight down side the Helmet one retails at £189.99 the surf one at £159.99. Managed to get hold of one at a demo price to trial out, if they are as good as they say we may well be selling them so some discounts will be on offer if anyone wants one Wink
Just looked at the vid clips, not bad, i've certainly seen a lot worse.

Always had a notion to try some video cam stuff while out canoeing and then edit to make something half decent worth viewing. I do have a small camera that shoots reasonable video but nothing like the quality in those clips.

Not a bad price for what you get, but alas, a while yet before I can show more interest.
Sad Not at all waterproof but great Wink cameras, the Fuji FD50 - Only real drawback is the image data size, typically 1.86 to 2.98MB each. And the Cannon EOS 5 - Only drawback is the neckbending weight.

Well the new 'Toy' arrived today, took me 20 mins of studying the box to work out how to get it out and Heather 2 mins to do it Doh! Shy been a long week.

My it is small! fits in the palm of your hand, no chance of playing with it (the camera that is ) this weekend as don't have the time, but probably give it an outing next week and report back.
I got a great video paddling Mackerstoune on the Tweed last week, one of the group leaders had an Olympus sw1050 (or something like that) and wanted to film while I paddled.

After a little thought (should read "too little") I got him to sit just in front of me to avoid too many trim problems as he was a lot bigger than me. Unfortunately I hadn't taken into account the fact I might want to put in some cross deck strokes or see where I was going. He made a far better 6'4", broad shouldered door than he did a window!

The video worked out great, I'll see if I can get a copy and post it, although I'll have to get my head round video editing as there are some of the group sitting on the bank opposite the goat hole.

More on topic, my camera's a Nikon D40x, which I happily take paddling, although I do miss the odd shot I'd get if I had a waterproof one in my BA pocket, the quality of the kit lens is astounding so I feel the results are worth it.
Not sure if this should be a heads up....Exclamation

Was persuaded to pop into Decathlon for the first time week before last and was absoloutly STUNNED by the size and range of kit they had on offer...and the PRICES...Exclamation....previously I'd thought it was a camping shop similar to The Great Outdoors....Whistle

Anyway enough of my waffling...Whistle

We popped in today to pickup some essentials for next weekend and as I wandered aimlessly around like a kid in a toy shop I spotted this....joy

The Geonaute X-Snipe 300.....

Waterproof to 3m...Although no IPxX rating...Question

Upto 2Gb storage on additional SD card

Powered by 2 x AA batteries...

AVI format...

Resolution 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second...

And all that for the grand price of £69.99...the cheapest I'd heard of to date was around £260.00 and they go up to around a cool grand......ILL

I normally discuss purchases with Chris, but she was told rather quickly that we were taking one home with us.....Exclamation

Here's a link to a video taken with one....., obviously in an open boat you wouldn't be travelling quite so quickly....Big Grin
