Hi Lone Wolf,
Welcome to the forum. Just up the road to you near Durham. There's at least one other forum member even nearer to you who I'm sure will introduce himself.

Loch Ken: Either park for free at the car park next to the viaduct at the narrowest point on the loch [Red Kite and I did this last year for a two nighter] or give the friendly folk at the Galloway Sailing Centre a ring on 01644 420 626. They will charge you a little for parking up and using their facilities/launching but it is certainly safer. You might even decide you want to camp there [see recomended sites]
Hi And a warm welcome to the forum, I see you already have been given the information that you have requested, so welcome and Happy paddling Regards Bill
Hello and welcome aboard Tom Wave There are a few members with more than a passing intrest in bushcraft.
Loch ken is a great spot for wild camping and Aslan has pointed out the Galloway Sailing Centre offers excelent facilitys for a very resonble price.
Heres the trip tale of our visit a couple of weeks ago.
