I finally managed to get back on the water Saturday, for the first time in two months.
I also done this trip last year on a wildcamp http://www.canoewithaview.co.uk/forum/sh...hp?tid=412 but because of the weather, failed to get any pictures of Hennerton backwater, so I have returned to rectify this.............

The get in was at the George and Dragon pub in Wargrave, starting on the Thames.

Only went through one lock on the way to St Patricks stream, Shiplake lock............

After a lunch stop on one of the islands on the Thames (Forgot the milk btw, see what happens when I get out of practice) we entered St Patricks Stream, did not take many pictures here as I featured this last year.

At 2pm we were back at the George and Dragon, so we carried on for 5 minutes downstream to Hennerton backwater.

This is the mariner at the entrance, the big white house in the middle of the picture is Wargrave Manor (I have been working there for the past three weeks) It is owned by the Sultan of Oman, is set in 125 acres of sheer splendour, is fully staffed all year, with an annual budget of 5 million pounds, and in the past 6 years, the sultan has visited once, last year for two hours only.

Anyway, enough of that opulence, Hennerton Backwater.............

The end of the backwater............

Back onto the Thames.........

And finally, the marina just before the get out at the George and Dragon, where a pint was in order............

I was glad to get back on the water after a short break, these backwaters certainly done the trick, it left me a bit green with envy seeing some of those riverside properties, I would need to win the lottery twice to afford some of them!
Lovely looking part of the world Richard, I do enjoy reading your Thames TT's you capture the bits that the majority don't know about brilliantly.
What with the sultans house and that cruiser in the first shot the rescission didn't seem to be biting that hard,Tongue good to see you back on the water and thanks for a great TT Wave
Great one Richard, a lovely looking paddle, mighty impressed with your friend, the Sultans, house. How some people live eh?
Hi Richard, nice TT mate and some excellent pic's, and nice to see back on the water, just of a minor concern, no Brew stops, you know the rules paddle 20 min's Brew stopWhistle:
, if Sir Jammy hears of this,Copper I know you had a Beer at the end but Tut-Tut Tut, thanks for sharing mate.
Best regards Bill
Hi ya Richard, good to see you back out on the water. Once again an excellent TT and lovely photos, the Thames in that area certainly looks an inviting place to paddle. Thanks for sharing mate.
What a fascinating little paddle to do, and so picturesque! I would love to spend a day there, the willows hanging over to provide shade and I swear I can almost smell the reeds and bulrushes of a Spring bloom. Fantastic pictures and an enjoyable read... Smile
Thanks for the comments.
Bill, I did stop for a combined brew/lunch stop, I just did not detail it because I had the hump because I forgot the milk, and the worst thing about it was I actually have a list of essentials of what not to forget that I did read before leaving, what a numpty! Dunce
