A week last Friday saw the comming of the much awaited Canoe Camping Club's 2009 Mordiford meet, the venue as always was Lucksall Camp Site near Hereford with the Wye at the bottom of the field. The event was fully booked quite a while beforehand with 130 Adults in attendance and 80 kids.

We left Chester at 17:00 dreading the Bank Holiday traffic, luckily Sally Traffic told us that everyone had hit the motorways and left the A49 reasonably free for us on the 2.5 hour journey down through some wonderful countryside.

We'd never visited Lucksall previously, once we got there we couldn't believe why not, it's a pristine site, flat as a pancake and very well managed. After being greeted at the entrance to the rally field by the duty CCC steward we found a pitch and setup shop for the week, part way through the "Horn" went for the evening meeting, so Chris was left to make home in a tent that was still flapping in the wind.

Later in the evening Davros came to visit, threatening to exterminate anyone that didn't do the Lugg with him in the morning...

The put in for the Lugg was good, and there was a good turnout for the first run....Terry and Jude in the foreground, Shelly left and Out 'n About in the Blue T-Shirt...

Liz (the Heroine of the week) putting on her deck and the "signets" from top to bottom, Emms, Esther and Beany...

Jude is convinced that she's doing all the work...

Andy spots some ripples and goes for his gun's...

Perhaps the smallest lunch stop of the week...

Emms made use of the time to model some of Yorkshire Canoe's gear...

And then gets down to some serious paddling....

Shelly enjoying the Lugg...

To some this would look like rubbish....

To others it is gold...

Sorry guys, my memory is getting addled, I forgot about the late afternoon/evening...

We also had Endless Rivers turn up on Saturday afternoon with a plethora of goodies to rummage through...

Liz couldn't make her mind up wether to buy this little gem for herself or for Alli...I think Alli won...

Later on in the afternoon a number of run leaders took to the water with a gaggle of beginners, lots of people had, very kindly, taken extra boats and kit so that those without could get on the water (swiss family Tim for instance had Two canadians, three kayaks and a sit on top with them..!). Lots of people had a great time of it, and from the river bank it looked like a mass version of Canoe dodgems, with smiles and laughter all the way.

After the Saturday meeting we all moved down to the Marquee and had an impromptue BBQ...

Where a number of the guys pulled out their weapons of choice and provided some excellent background music,

Later on we had an adult's game of catch over the BBQ where most of us proved that we had butterfingers, as, for some strange reason, the wood seemed to end up in the BBQ rather than our hands....
Clearly you all have far too many luxuries at your disposal, even a circus tent! Thank's for sharing the pics, I'm off to read day two now Smile
Great TT Red, seems long ago now but had fantastic time whils't there. Roll on next year and for longer, Andy.
