One of the few options I have close to town for a moving water paddle that last long enough to be an overnight, I did the Squamish river last weekend for the 4th time this year already, this time with my sister.

The days were a little too warm for me but my Hawaii obsessed bow paddler refused to sit in the shade once. The first night we arrived late so we took an early sandbar to camp on and it was the best campsite I'd ever enjoyed on this river, directly at the junction of another river called the Ashlu. The water was all from melted snow so regardless of how hot it was outside.. you didn't want to stand in it for too long.

Hi, and yet another good TT and great pic's, bit disappointed thought there would have a least been a Grizzly or something like (After your last exploit) at least your fish was a good size one and would have provided you both with a good meal,
Thank you once again for sharing with us, going down our local canal this weekend, good chance I could get attacked by a Duck will give you a blow by blow account when I get back, IF I get back?Spy duck
Happy Paddling Best Regards Bill.
Once again Andrew the "dogs" that looks a pretty bad strainers across the river. ILL keep up the good work you paddling this weekend ?
Yet another great TT. Looking forward to the next one.

Cheers

Biff
Now that's just the back wheels Andrew, the first campsite looks great. I so want to paddle in Canada, I foresee two lottery tickets being bought this weekend.
A very astute observation Gav, those strainers can be killers when the river is a little lower, and potentially dangerous at anytime. It was upon one of those very strainers that I put the big 13 inch crack in my Mackenzie last Fall.

That is grizzly area for sure but at this time of year they are up at high altitude, but once the salmon start spawning in the fall they'll come down to shores for a picture or two.

I'm off to do an afternoon and night time marsh paddle tonight with a few friends, it's really hot today so this paddle wont begin till 6pm and wont end till about 1am. Hope I come back with some good pics, but if not I'm leading another group out to the same spot on Sunday night as well.

Sound brilliant, I have just finished packing the jeep and slung couple of boats on top only going 20 mins up the road, but meeting up with a few of the guys so should be a great weekend. Cheers tipi

Whoops!!!!! Andrew, it was me Gav that posted this, I really should check which account was open....................
Top tale as always, really must start savingBig Grin
Great pics - am I envious - you bet.
Great pics and absolute fantastic scenery and country, you lucky so and so. On first seeing the picture of the strainer,i thought you were paddling a serious bit of fire wood back to camp.
Looks a beautiful place though, would love to get over there one day.

Happy padddling.

LOL Rick, you know I posted on one of our local forums, and just above that picture of my sister holding onto the log, that I was paddling my firewood back upriver against the current to my campsite... but no one even caught the joke.

Bill, I never underestimate those ducks, especially in the marsh paddle I did last night. When the silence of a twilight a sunset is all of a sudden shattered by three or four of these feathered delicacies suddenly taking off at once, unseen and only five feet from you seat it still startles me after ten years of paddling these marshes Cheers

How expensive is a return flight to the west coast of Canada in the UK anyway? I know I see very cheap deals from Air Canada offering return flights for around $600 Canadian all the time, that's about $650 US.

I know all my friends who've got family in England or visit there tell me how much more expensive everything is there compared to here, so I wouldn't be surprised if a Canadian trip is much cheaper than many might suspect, for food, accommodation and gear.

Not that I'm trying to solve the global economic by promoting the Canadian tourism industry, but I'd be remiss not to admit that I feel so much more relaxed about sharing trip location secrets with paddlers here than I do with the general hiking/outdoor community that lives where I do. I guess I trust this membership not to share my secrets thus sending droves of people into my hard found and secluded paddling escapes. Shy
Brilliant stuff again Andrew and thanks for sharing. I didn't know it was possible for one person to make so many others envious.
Top marks for a great "Trip tale" and stunning photos. Cool
