I'd heard on the grapevine that there was a Rave going down at Oakmeadowford Lock on the Caldon Canal on Saturday night (something to do with a birtday party or the like), so I gave Muff a shout and she said she'd be well up for it, I think the words were "Bangin' dude, innit" or something similar....

We arranged with DJ "Billy Boy" to drive over on Saturday and hook up with him before he got on the decks to spit out some toons....

At the end of the day on Friday we were itching to get on the water, so we figured that we'd get over to Consall and start the party early...

After a decent trip over, and a few wrong turns trying to find the Black Lion we finally had the "Queen Mary" loaded and ready for action...

As soon as we were on the water the heavens opened and both me and Muff got a bit moist....

The wind stayed down and it wasn't long before we arrived at the site, it was already starting to fill up....

Security was high, with only one way to access the venue...

DJ "Billy Boy" was keen to make his introductions to Muff....

It was soon time to wind up the PA system and get the party started, I got stuck into the sherbert and Bill popped some pills, the party went on well into the early hours...

I rose late, to find Muff missing, and Bill came over with a sheepish grin on his face, with a mug of England's finest....

Later on I wandered over to the OZ Tent village, just to the right of the Main Stage, to check out what was happening...

In the food tent, they were serving up some tasty looking Brunch, although I got the broken yolks....

I poped down to the local Sevices before the real party got started, there was plenty of parking...

I'd certainly recommend stopping here if you're passing...

An overview of the main field, showing the Oz Tent Village in the background, the Main Stage, the Chill Zone and the Green floor in the foreground...

As the site filled up, Health and Saftey were out in force....

We tried out some "Jammy Cake"....

And got down on the dancefloor....

A toast was made, to Nige and "the WaV"....

On Sunday, Bill let Muff down jently....

And on the way back to the car the rain returned...

A great party, great company, the weather held off for most of the events, and the light show on Saturday was fantastic....

Cheers
Red.
Looks like fun was had - damp fun perhaps, but fun all the same.

How's Muff?

Biff
Gald to see it wasn't just us that had rubish weather, thanks for the C-waV birthday message Bill as you could tell from our retorte we were celibrating Cheers

Cheers
Tim
Great party TT Red. Light hearted and funny. Glad to see you and Bill made the most of it despite the weather, that seemed to be the common denominator this weekend no matter where you went.

I thought that "Billy Boy" with his years of experience might be able to provide some new input into the manufacturing process, the R&D team haven't been very successful of late...Sad

Unfortunately the only, laughable, suggestion that Bill could come up with was to cover the fire with soil....Rolleyes.....He then went on to tell me how the Earth is round and that Pie is not something you eat but is 3.16428 (rounded)....Whistle...I shouldn't have wasted my time really....

Cheers
Red.

Bill, you know you are an inspiration to all us 'whipper snappers' I just hope I can do what you can when I'm 160!
Well I had better add my little contribution to Reds's Cwav Birthday Celebrations.
I arrived at the said site at app;19-30 Friday night, :-
[Image: P6050017.jpg]

I set up camp and by 20-30hrs was preparing my Dinner, the rain had started, Bovered, Face Bovered Nah, all the Duluths and yours truly under quality Canvas.

A far cry from a few years ago :-

Then my Son, said Dad any Fool can rough it,

Anyway as I was just settling down, I was just having my Tablets when I thought I heard someone shout, but for a moment ignored it, then thought, I Wonder, So I shouted a Challenge, followed by advance one and be recognised, sure enough it was Simon (Redframe ) so I put the rifle away and opened the lock gate to let him in to the camp area,I helped him to unload his canoe, and lift his canoe out, then after the cursory greeting's, which he practically crushed me, I left him to set up his tent, but only after chastising him for ignoring the camp rules :-

Tents must be a minimum of 6 metres a part, that's right isn't it Grizz;
Must set the standards and maintain them.
So Simon once set up came over to join me, he quickly got a fire going, as he had bought a bag of logs with him, and started to prepare his dinner, then asked me to join him with a drink, sadly had to decline as I had taken 6 tablets and thought it wise not to have any alcohol but told him I would join him the next evening, we eventually retired at something past 02-00 hrs, at least I didn't have to wait long for my favourite lady to arrive; DAWN, so after a couple hours kip I got up to my date only to find Dawn had sent one of the ugly sisters, it was simply hissing down, conserlation we are still here to greet a new day.
So I took a few pic's of the camp site, while Simon was still in Slumber land, mind you he did sup a bit.

Here you can see, Muff prefer ed to stop with me as Simon's Snoring was rather loud.

Cant remember what time Simon arose, but I took him a mug of tea, and we had Brunch consisting of the obligatory Bacon and Egg sarnies.
Then Simon feeling the call of nature decided to nip down to the Black lion and see what was what,
[Image: P6060033.jpg]
he was gone for a couple of hours as he decided to sample some of the strange brews that can only be found in such an hostelry, arriving back at the camp site full of good cheer,

Well it was time for afternoon siesta, after which we got things prepared for the evenings festivities, and I too had a little drop of Vodka, Simon cooked a steak big enough to feed me for a week, and by around 02-00 we were both ready for Bed.
Oh yeh still raining, but who cares, still got up at o4-10 and was entertained by the pheasants on the tow path.

Simon arose and lo-and behold the rain had stopped, after breakfast he struck camp and loaded his canoe ready for the off, after the good bye's I once again opened the lock gates to let him out, and off he went to the plaintiff cries of Bye Muff, Bye Muff, Love you Muff, ( Cue, Shane ) just for you old guys.
Well despite the weather I had a great weekend with a great Guy Thank you Simon for your company, only hope I didn't whitter on to much for you.
I had decided to stay on for another day, as I still want to see Dawn in all her splendour, and was not disappointed, I to then Struck camp and made my way back to my mooring.
