So, c'mon, how did the English version of the Trangia work out, (We found a prototype in the car after Mordi...)...

Great to see "H" out enjoying himself again...

...Dagger Dynamo, Dagger Dynamo.....
Sounds like the absoloute best was made of a wet and windy weekend, the smiles tell the story....
Look forward to seeing y'all out soon, if "H" is in Preston give us a heads up and I might be able to persuade a certain young lady to come join us....
Cheers
Red.
Glad to see you made the most of it and at least you managed a paddle.
Well what can I add to this?
After much flapping on my part, Luke, Bethany, Aiden and myself finally headed out from home at about 6.00am

Feeling much more relaxed once underway that I'd felt for days.
Charnock Services. "Rhonda the Honda" looking a little lost under two canoes.
Arrived at Caniston Hall at about 10.00am to be greeted by glorious sunshine and a mirror calm lake. This however was not to last. Shortly after pitching camp the wind picked up and the rain came down
I must re-apply some seam-sealant to the argos tipi.
Luke(nitushi) looking rather dejected.
A break in the weather late afternoon allowed us to go and play for a bit. I hasten to add that I have very few photos of the only paddling we managed all weekend.
Some biffa in a very small canoe.
The weather stayed reasonable albeit bloomin cold for the rest of the evening, allowing us to remain outside partaking in the odd bevvy and much chatter, till we could bear the cold no longer and turned in for the night. Awoke early to the sound of rain and wind and water finding its way past the seams of the tipi.
Pancakes and maple syrup fro breckie.
Aiden (Mini-mears) always smiling.
For most of the day I was sporting the most horendous headache (not drink related this time) brought on I think by my constant flapping and stressing out over thing the last few days, so I went for a lay down to try and get rid of it while the kids and everyone else played numerous games over at Gav and Tracy's. When the weather finally broke, again late afternoon, Gav and Tony (Mountainlad) set off for the birthday paddle, having previously deposited a car at Brown Howe for the shuttle back. I however opted to stay in camp.
'H' not wanting a girl get the better of him during a rain-free footy spell.
"OI. WAIT FOR ME!"
I think Gav decided he'd had enough of sailing and swam back to camp.
It was a great weekend, despite the weather everyone made the most of it. Good to meet Paully, Tony and 'H' for the first time, I do hope we actually get to paddle together the next time.
Thanks to Gav and Tracy for looking after the kids and keeping them entertained.
Until the next time.

Hi Nige, pleased you got out ok, can well understand your apprehension on making such a journey, that would be the main cause of your head ache, pleased everything turned out well for you all, and despite the weather you all managed a paddle, and as the children said and did have fun even if it was raining, sorry didn't phone you I dont have your mobile No, so phoned Gav; and Lee, I thought Lee was there till I spoke to him, (Memo to self keep up with the posts)
Keep up the good work with the forum Nige, I'm sure you know it is appreciated, and a BIG THANK YOU from me.
Warmest Regards Bill.
A hardy crew of paddlers who need not wait for the sun to shine, and I see the pop can stove is just as popular over there as it is here. It's really quite remarkable just how many trips I've had where the only stove broke down, although aside from a hassle for morning coffee, I dont mind cooking over a fire.
Love the sail, looking good you guys!
Thanks for sharing Guys
Great see trips like this whilst I am out of commission
Sean
Nice one Gav; like everyone the best was made of atrousious conditions, children can realy show grown up's how to enjoy things, on a serious note you mentioned carbon monoxide might be as well to purchase a detector, I got one from B&Q £14-00, just think of the little scare you have just encountered.
The pic of Tony in the water looks as if there is a bloody big shark behind him.
Like the Sail, would imagine it would be difficult to steer and operate the sail, never done none mind.
Well done all, Best Regards Bill

Looks to be another good one. I was in the area but somewhat busy on the Friday. Saturday saw me out and about but not in a canoe, as I was in the process of re pairing the yoke thwart. I've put a temp. thwart in, just to keep the hull in shape but it's not really up to paddling trim. The sat. was rather windy but I got some photos around Coniston Water and managed to avoid the most of the adventure race. That water sure looked bouncy. Then I was back to Wales on the Sunday.
TGB
Good to hear from you TGB Adventure race that would explain the crews of four in rafted up tandems heading into the wind on Saturday evening as myself and Tony were heading South.
There was a triathlon running at the same time the transition area was a Coniston Hall not great with the amount of blind corners on that lane down to it when your met with a guy in a pair of speedo's going full chat on his race bike

Looks like you all had a great time despite the weather, I was over in the isle of man so can relate to the conditions!, Andy.
The family didn't appreciate the suggestion of a detour to Coniston on the way back from our holiday in Galloway. Don't know why - the rain might have had something to do with it.
Looks like you all had a great time none the less.
