Well I just got back from another weekend spent killing fish on the Squamish River. Perfect weather and no accidental swims by any, we even had a light haze in the sky to help keep the sun off us!
A quick stop at mom's place to fill a few bags of cherries before leaving...
Had to be sure to put the raspberries on top so the cherries wouldn't squish them..
I found a new and even more beautiful campsite on this trip..
While searching out some of the tributary rivers along the Squamish for deep fishing holes, I had to do a fair amount of lining.
The search for those deep fishing holes eventually paid off..
A quick dive into this glacial water will cool you off.. just dont stay in for more than a second or two..
Now refreshed, it was time for some fishing..
Rainbow trout are the prettiest fish you'll ever eat!
Dinner was on the way back to the camp site before long...
My proud underwear trophy pose...
Beers on the beach...
Time to start cooking those fish...!
Getting dark..
A bit hazy the next day but still beautiful, I just had to paddle back to that fishing hole...
Someone who wasn't happy to share their deep pool with me..
The river was high and fast so it took very little time to get down to our shuttle vehicle and bring back some of the trout for mom...
Sure am glad we got off the river yesterday because as I look out my window right now... it's starting to rain!
Wonderful Blogg and as always brilliant photo's....
Thanks for sharing your weekend with us...

Another excellent TT Andrew, thoroughly enjoyed it. The photos are stunning.
I don't what it is about your tales but, theres always a sense of care-free about them unhurried and simple. Please don't take this the wrong way as its approach that I an possibly many others would like to follow.
Simply glorious mate! Please keep them coming.

Hi once again Andrew, a very nice fishing trip tale mate, and as you say a very pretty fish the rainbow, mind you the Brownie is a nice fish as well and both taste equally as good, did you catch on lure, or Fly, thought a bit small for lure though, Great pics as usual thank you for sharing with us, incidentally there wasn't a need to send the rain to us we have plenty of our own thank you.
Happy Paddling, and Best Regards Bill
I know exactly what you mean Nige, and I make it my mission to try and make sure every trip is as carefree and relaxing for all as possible, but no trip is ever with out it's moments too. For instance, on this trip the fellow I invited along is a boyscout leader who has his basic canoe instructors ticket so no matter how diplomatic I tried to be, he did not like taking any suggestions from me.
He wanted to use his own bent shaft paddles, very pretty things that would look great in photographs but dont move nearly enough water to push yourself out of a boiling whirl pool or fast approaching log jam. He was rather cocky when I insisted he had to use my broad bladed white water paddles instead, but grudgingly relented as he didn't own a canoe of his own and was borrowing one of mine.
On day two, when he was fast approaching a very sharp S turn in the river, I had to call out to him and his new wife to change the sides they were paddling on so they wouldn't crash into a granite cliff face at 20kph. He did not have time to shout back any wise cracks at that moment and he immediately discovered the advantage as soon as he complied but I could feel his disapproval at having to be told to do this.
Realizing this was his first moving water trip with his new wife, I quickly brushed aside any thoughts of offering any more suggestions but when we finally made the take out, he forgot to tie his (my) canoe to the shore! He and I were already in my car driving back up the river to get his car when my cell phone rings with this panicked message from the girls back with the boats.... "ONE OF THE CANOES IS FLOATING DOWN THE RIVER...!"
I turned the car around to race back but the time I got there, the girls had managed to coral my wayward canoe but were now stuck another half a kilometer down river. Needless to say, he was rather quiet during the drive back up the river to get his car.
Bill, I was using an ultra-lite spin casting rod with classic river spinners and spoons. I seriously wish I could claim the fishing prowess I felt posing with my trophies in my neoprene wet socks and knickers but the truth is.. they were biting at almost anything I cast out there, even those fake rubber worms

Hi Andrew, thanks for the info on your method in catching the Trout, its is a fact if Fish are feeding they will take almost anything.
In the case of your friend, its a wonder you didnt straighten his Bent shaft paddle over his head.
Best Regards Bill
