Has anyone tried making foam bouyancy blocks using expanding foam sold as a gap filler in an aerosol can?
I'm thinking that if I restrict the expansion with some form of shuttering across the canoe and inject the foam into a tough plastic bag I could create a foam block that fits perfectly into the hull.
Silly idea?

Unfortunately, that type of foam absorbs water, so not really suitable for making blocks, but good idea though

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Horrible stuff that, I hate it I hate it I hate it, used the stuff on some DIY (destroy it yourself) many moons ago to fill a gap between some plaster board and reinforced glass, the stuff kept on expanding and expanding and expanding broke the glass and nearly popped out the plaster board!!!
I hate it I hate it I hate it. Oh and as Graeme says it sucks up the water like a sponge, did i say I hate it?
Cheers
Tim
I don't have added bouyancy in my canoe. However if I ever take to a WW specific craft then I will use airbags then.
I have used this foam arround my home and it absorbs water!!!!!

I saw some
foam blocks made by Endless River at Yorkshire Canoes yesterday and they looked more robust than any sort of inflatable. They seem to be using polystyrene foam not closed cell foam. ?
I guess you could make up your own blocks out of polystyrene or better still polyurethane insulation boards from a builders merchants, then protect them with a nylon bag?

Hi, did you find a buyer for these yet? If not how much were you looking for? How soon did you need shot of them? If you were thinking of going to the end of summer meet we could maybe sort it then? Or it that too far off?
Cheers

If you got rid of the name off them you could fit them in the new boat?
