I guess it's here, as we don't presently have a 'places' dept.River Brathay in Cumbria
As you exit Brathay Pool and head down river left. Just at the bridge's base, also river left, there used to be a path by common useage, up to the road on the 'Clappersgate' side.
I say 'used to be', as of around the 13th of July, a nice shiny Citroen C2, took out 15ft of parapet and part of the bridge itself, landing on the path below, (not the car). After repairs, it may still be a path of sorts but unless they remove the fallen masonry, the way down to/up from, will be no good for paddlers.

Don't know if it was a local or tourist. But whoever they were, they must have be giving it jip, as they came down the hill. No skid marks coming down the hill. They just piled into the wall. There are however, some really meaty skid marks, where they towed the car to the small car park outside Low Brathay. From these and the visual state of the car, reckon it bent the chassis, locked the front wheels, moved the engine back and bucked the subframe. Basically a write-off.
