Hi.

Can anyone tell me about Decathlon tents - particularly in the Quechua range. I'm looking for a 'family' tent to persuade Mrs Biff to come on some of our trips (and others), and their prices look quite good. But what about quality, especially waterproofness.

I have my eye on the T4.1 (£100).

Cheers

Biff
I don't know about tents

However Daley Thompson was our best ever Decathlon athelete

Our Quechua from Decathlon seems fine, not tried it out in the rain yet, but the figures seem ok and the build quality is good we have the 2 Second XL III

hi Biff

i am a fan of the Quecha pop ups from Decathlon,
i have a 1 man and a 2 man, similar to Greame,
if you notice, his has a little awning on the front, mine doesnt,
[Image: 2seconds2.jpg]
when i unzip the tent to enter/exit
the rain can run in, Greams might be better but they are more expensive.
ive been wild camping with the lads in some dreadfull weather,
rain, strong wind, and more rain,
i can say they have never let me down,
Pros-
very waterproof, quick to pitch, quick to pack away, cheap

Cons-
large pack size, compared to a similar "normal" non pop up tent,
a bit fiddly to fold away until you get the knack, which took me about 3 attempts
when pitching a "normal" tent
the guy lines are tightened to support the tent,
with a pop up, you dont tighten them so much, because it squashes the tent down,

when pegging it out, pull on the pegs slightly before pushing in the ground, it makes the tent stand up nicely...

hope this helps...
Hi Biff,

I was after a Robens for "Mrs Frame camping", but it seems there are none of the particular model that I was after in the country at the right price...

As a stop-gap until next year, I've gone for one of these which is exaclty the same layout but nylon instead of canvas..and an extra £40 on your £100 budget...

http://www.caseysoutdoorleisure.co.uk/ea...-231-p.asp

The main requirements were, quick to pitch, robust woven groundsheet, can stand up in and large porch area for those "British Summer" days, the 2000mm head of water is not the best, but enough to keep you dry....

Should be good enough to get Mrs Biff out....

Cheers
Red.
Go for it Biff, I was looking at the T4.1 a few weeks ago, very nice tent.

Quechua is Decathlon's own brand just like Tri-board. I've had numerous products from Decathlon over the years and their own brand stuff is way up there on quality. You'd be hard pushed to find anything at the same price and of the same quality. The pop-up tents was originally a Quechua innovation and these comiing with inner tents long before all the more known brands!

I heartily recommend Decathlon's products not just to the cash-strapped amongst us, but to anyone. For the price you just can't beat the quality!
Thanks for the info, guys. Very helpful.

I've also had my eye on a Snugpak Denali 4 - it's a little bigger then the T4.1, but a bit more expensive.

Ah - decisions decisions. I suppose the question is - which one would match Mrs Biff's outfit? Rolleyes

Oh dear could be a hard decision or an new outfit to match Wink either way it will be the wrong colour Dunce
just match thee colour of thee craft for thou fair maiden

Sir Jammy
Nearly set fire to my pop up thing, setting it up is dead easy but putting the damn thing away = lots of foul language from me, ok its only a beach shelter as we us it to store water sports stuff in, I would say practice makes perfect with these tents.
All the Quetcha stuff we have are fantastic value for money and the Gadget Show rated them so why not.
Cheers
Tim
