Enjoying a Welcome...

...to enjoy their sport canoeists need to be welcome

1 Be friendly and polite to local residents
2 Drive slowly with care and consideration
3 Park sensibly without causing any obstruction
4 Be as quiet as possible
5 Unload kit tidily and take all litter home
6 Get changed out of public view
7 Get permission before going onto private property
8 Avoid wildlife disturbance and environmental damage
9 Be considerate to other water users
10 Avoid being an intrusion on local life
11 Support local businesses if you can
12 Say “Thank You” for any help you receive
13 Leave no trace of your visit
14 Follow the Country Code (see below)

Enjoy the countryside and respect its life and work
Leave livestock, crops & machinery alone
Guard against all risk of fire
Take your litter home
Fasten all Gates
Help to keep all water clean
Keep your dogs under close control
Protect wildlife, plants and trees
Keep to public paths across farm land
Take special care on country roads
Use gates and stiles to cross fences, hedges & walls
Make no unnecessary noise

these are some good ways for
canoeists to earn a welcome in
the countryside

Great Graeme.
I've been thinking of popping something like this up for sometime.
Good points, all of them!
How about a quick link to this on the opening page for ALL visitors?
Good one Sean.
The "Search", "Members List" etc navigation will change to incorporate a Gallery and Mainsite link shortly, I could pop a link in there!

More work! Wink
Rolleyes Well said.

Absoloutly agree with everything that you've posted Graeme...

But at the same time.....

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

And if you're reading this and you've not sent off a response to the "Access in Wales" post then shame, shame on you....Exclamation

You've had over two months, you now have less than two weeks..(18th September)..After that, when you moan, the first thing you will be asked is, did you respond...., if not then you'll be laughed at, pointed at, ridiculed, and expunged.....Wink...

Frankly, there is no excuse not to respond to this Welsh Government request for information....Devil

Cheers
Red.

100% agree Red, the sad lack of access to rivers in England and Wales is criminal.

I have been supporting the River Access group for years but it's like banging your head against a wall so don't miss out on the chance to have your say Wink
