UK you need to make people aware that it is not simply as easy and just jumping in your boat and paddling with the sea.

Sea states ate totally different in different parts of the coast and on a day to day basis with current issues and swell issues. I've paddled quite abit in a Kayak and on ait on top but not yet in an open as my favourite haunts tend to be bumpy with white tops.

Jamatrad.
I am very much aware of what the sea & the weather can throw up, I have been paddling the coastal waters near me in one form or another for the past 30 to 40 year in a varity of open boat, that is why I always check the inshores water forecast as well as the shipping forecast & plan & prepare for the worst condition & I always let someone know were I am going just in case.
As yet I haven't needed to call for help form the Coastgraud or the RNLI but I do take onboard the advice that they give & I hope that I may never need to, I am always willing to assit them if & when they need it, they do an admirable job & deserve all the support they deserve.
I have now split this thread. Onfires photos thread can now be seen here.
Thank you for your help Nige ... I feel a little apologetic for screwing things up.

I have now found how to resize photo's on photobucket - so with your permission I will post some more in time ... on a new thread of course!

Thanks again
Tim permission not necessary, and certainly no need to apologise.
Looking forward to seeing the pics. Smile

I think Jammy was saying that YOU may well know what precautions to take, but others may well not know, so it might be an idea to let your readers know what you do before deciding to go out....

Quite a good idea for a new thread in New to Canoeing if you'd like to start one UKB...

Cheers
Red.
Hiya

Sounds like a good trip, I was at Wat Tyler park (pitsea) the other day and noticed pitsea creek looks interesting, you can get to the oil refinary I think.

theres a better idea to posting a new thread & that is for someone to orgainise a coastal paddling meet were for thoughs attend the meet to find out what is involveded in paddling an open canoe on the coast.

thats not a bad idea UKB,
its great when members are able to contribute useful things and ideas on the forum,
share their knowledge, and help one another,
but its also good to write things on the forum too,
especially for those that may not be able to attend a meet, for whatever reason...

why not post up a meet, and give people the opportunity to learn from your experience... Question
I think the suggestion is to create a "How to" thread as this thread is neither a "How to" or a "Meet-up" arrangement. And if truth be known, nor is it a "Trip tale".

So I'm moving this to the section I think it should belong now!
that's ok by me Nige
Coastal paddling, you need not have to go far, find yourself a nice beach with safe water and play, this way you can find the limits of your boat without falling in the gooey cut!
