I have just bought some solid wedges ,to fit a Outlander 16(on order)
http://www.endlessriver.co.uk//product_i...cts_id/580
when it arrives whats peoples opinion,is the best fitting option.
The boat will have wooden gunnel's.
Drill and lace,
Drill thwarts and lace.
P clips.
Those little plastic clips with two screws.
Any other suggestions, this is an expensive boat and i don't want to mess it up.
Any photos much appreciated.Ta
my solid blocks are from a different source and they fit tight to the shape of the canoe and wedge neatly under the gunnels
i have used them plastic slp/grip/lock tie thingys ( forget what they are called --senile me) go it --cable ties
i used them to tie the blocks up tight to the carry end thwarts. this coupled with being tight under the gunnels keeps them in without drill etc.
no change to the boat at all
I haven't got the boat yet to try the blocks in,so i don't know how tight they will be.
How did you cable tie the sides and did you use straps/D rings?
Got your boat yet Magic Rat? Still waiting for mine :o( Would appreciate some pics of the wedges fitted......
Not got it yet Mega say they will start work early Nov.
All good things come to he who waits!

How did you do this in the end MR? (I seem to be using you my own test rat prior to my boat arriving

)
I used Plastic pad eyes with stainless screws, through the loops at the top of the blocks,D ring glued to boat with fastex buckles and straps up to the carrying handles.
Blocks were a bit wide so i shrank them with a blow torch.

Just a Heads Up, if you are fitting blocks or airbags for that matter into a boat that you are going to use on rivers G2 upwards I would always recommend drilling the hull as you could easily pull the gunwales off if you get your boat pinned.
With a composite boat you can still drill the hull and to avoid the hull cutting the lacing use some rubber grommets in the holes.
You can use this method for attaching an end loop as well
If you get the option when having a composite boat built ask them to put in buoyancy tanks, look a lot neater and will do the job fine for flat water touring.
Good advice, mine is only to be used on lakes and flat river trips.
I don't want to drill,just yet.

Nor me.... if the river is that bad it can have the boat.... Quite like the idea of built in flotation though.....
