Very good indeed! The inspiration I need to make my own?

Thanks Graeme.
Further progress was made tonight so I'm going to bore you all some more with a couple of pics.
Managed to fit the leather, alright half leather (it was all I could get) straps made from a couple of £5.99 34" (too small for me) waist belts purchased from our local factory shop.
All I really have to do now is remove them ready for another sanding and a second coat of varnish. Tidy up the inside and oil.

Nice one Nige, and you know as well as I do that none of us ever get bored of looking at pic's of Gear/kit and especially hand made/crafted items.
Now please dont take this wrong but one piece of advice I notice that the two rope handles in themselves are fine, if on a River or Lake, but on a Canal they would require a piece of rope/sling joining the two handles so as to enable you to lift out and put back in Canoe.
A simple sling would suffice, you will find it indispensable. I do hope you dont mind me saying all I have said but as you know I carry a lot of kit/gear in my canoe whilst on the canal, and experience has taught me certain things, I do go on dont I so I will shut up now., anyway look forward to seeing it all on the 20th.
Best Regards Bill

Oi, they're not pink, they're red, it's just the flash from the camera makes them look pink.

Yeah I do get what you're saying Bill, there is but one drawback. The brackets for the pink, I mean red rope handles, won't allow it to lift straight out.
Make sure you're there on the 20th to fill the bleedin lock up so I won't have so far to lift it!!

Green and pink may go faster.
