What you want for them handles (fork handles: just been watching the clip Graeme@YC posted

) is a nice piece of old sisal or hemp rope. Failing that a piece of Marlow hardy hemp. This is available in metre lengths form online chandlers and has the look of hemp but is poly so won't rot. Red works for me though, just as long as you're sure it ain't pink

............The way forward for the Gaffer.
Green and pink may go faster.
(especially paddling in alabama with the red necks coming up from behind
)

That's wonderful work nige, quite inspiring!
I do have some white rope somewhere. I think it may be in the
shed, arrrghh! Now in your normal, everyday household this would not pose a problem, but here, to venture into the
shed, arrrghh, would require a weeks preparation, a week off work, and full brew-kit, sleeping-bag and a means to trap wild game! Definately not for the faint-hearted!

Thanks Pete, glad you like it. I am quite chuffed with my efforts, even the pink rope handles.

Now that a first outing for the wanigan is on the cards, I thought I'd better finish and and get it into a ready state for going.
Have oiled the whole of the inside with vegetable oil as I did not want to varnish it and have everything stinking and as food will be carried inside this could've been a little unpleasent.
The wanigan has an unladen weight of 9.1kgs which as I was hoping for a end result of under 10kgs isn't that bad.
Laden weight figures unpublished
Anyway, here is a picture with some items added ready for going away.
Nige.
Nige that looks stunning definitely the

danglers
Don't get it wet now, that is definitely for the Sunday best

Looking good Nige, like the way you've locked the chopping board in....
Will the clamps be stored in the Vanglian too...
You now need to burn a wooden spoon and spatula to match the Choppy board...
Can't wait to meet her on her maiden outing....
Cheers
Red.
Thanks guys.
Trust me Red I have thought about the clamps for legs, but I think I'll find a log or a lump of wood to prop it up with.
I'm waiting for our local "Sell anything as long as its cheap" shop to get some wooden utensils, so they'll have to wait. I suppose I could try making them myself.
cheers
Nige.
