There is a nice section of the Chesterfield Canal that runs from the River Trent at West Stockwith to Chesterfield through some lovely scenery in the Lincolnshire, the normal get in place we use is near the White Swan at Drakeholes, where you can either head North East towards West Stockwith or South East towards Retford and beyond.

There are some easy places to stop for a picnic and can recommend the White Swan for food and drink.
