2010 C-waV "Spring meet"
April 23rd, 24th & 25th
Lake Bala
Wales

The venue is Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), North Wales, staying at the 4 star camping and caravan park of Glanllyn. Access to the lake is available direct from the site.

Locally other than Bala there are paddling opportunities for both flat water paddlers at Lake Vyrnwy and for the thrill seekers is the National white water centre; Canolfan Tryweryn and the River Dee at Llangollen.
Wales.

This is the perfect opportunity for new members and novices to attend, new members to put faces to names, novices for the sheltered shallow bay is ideal for practice and general play.

A great social event. Canoeing is strictly peer group and at you own risk. However, there is often many experienced canoeists and coaches in attendance to offer guidance and advice, all you need do is ask.

There is a charge of £10 per canoe per day to use the lake.

From their web site it looks as though the £10 per canoe per day applies only to day visitors?

I will have to clarify this before I commit, the weekend would cost me £100+ not including diesel.
Cheers

I will be phoning them today Tim to clarify the charge for me and family, so will post it up later. I have however, decided that going a day earlier which is what I was hoping to do, is now out and we'll only be attending from Friday.

There is no fee for launching if you're staying at the site, the Warden comes and visits the site (supposedly) daily and collects the standard fee for getting on the lake.

As I remember from last year the camping fees were less than we worked out from the website, they were pretty much a little higher (£3 or so) than standard, but the toilet and shower blocks are brilliant, and free.

The only thing to be sure of is that you don't find yourself sitting in a stall of the women's block...... eh Nige....Question....Big Grin

Cheers
Red.

Yeah! You'd think for the fees they charge they'd manage to get the signs on the right doors. Tongue

When Sabrina and I paddled the lake last month, the launching fee for anywhere on Lake Bala was £3-50 a day, or for those who visit a lot £35-00 a year.

The Ranger who we spoke to let us off the launch fee, after checking that we had paid for our parking ticket which was £4-00.

This was very nice of him, mind you we were the only boats out that day, it was february the temperature was well below zero and part of the lake was frozen over.

We have been to the campsite several times now, most of the time the rangers don't bother to come down to that end of the lake to collect the launching fee, however we were once stopped while paddling in the middle of the lake so it's prudent to have the launching fee available at all times when on the water.
