Hi All
I am sitting here waiting for a client to drop off some artwork...
...and daydreaming about my fantasy camp site. It is a wild camp next to a lake set amongst mountains, nice and remote. The car is nearby so I can take whatever kit I need.
But, having realised I am out of touch with modern (non military) kit, what kit do I need?
A tarp - but who makes the best?
A hammock - but who makes the best?
What will I cook on, maybe a Yukon?
Something to cook in, the wifes saucepans... probably not.
A kelly kettle?
Brandy
A chair, still having a numb bum from sitting on a log at the weekend.
A book to read, but which?
An axe to chop firewood.
Brandy
Bug repelent
Halle Berry to help around camp and pour the brandy, I wonder if she can cook?
What have I missed, what would your fantasy camp contain?

You are a genius, Nigella it is

now then in regards to gear and what you need
hallie berri most definatly
now then being sensible
in my opinion you cant go far wrong with
a true north outdoors big tarp
a dd hammock and underblanket
mosi net
a kelly kettle
an outwell folding barbie cos dont wont to ruin ground but need real fire
ronnie sunshines western camp cooking kit which includes a cast ion dutch oven, a cast ion griddle and a cast ion frying pan
a deceant sleeping bag which in my opinion is a minus fifty snugpack antarctica RE sleeping bag
what else a 100% wool under sheet bed blanket for use on the chair and in the hammock if winter cos its not really needed in summer
a bottle of Jack Daniels
gas coleman lanturn
and a couple of uco lanturns
spare clothes
cutlery and cooking untensals of your choice to go with ingrediants you have brought
thats al i can think of so far
drew
oven mitt!
head torch
chair = hammock
baby oil for Halle

All that plus:
A good woman
& a soft chair
(I hope Lady J-D doesn't read this)
My fantasy camp....... On the shore of a large clear lake in the middle of no-where, the heady smell of the surrounding pine forest, a large level slab of rock to place the fire, nice solid trees to sling the hammock, no mozzies, a clear sky that lasts through the night along with nil light pollution.
A good food, fine wine, and good company...........
Cheers

A
soft woman and a
good chair, perhaps.
and fantasy weather - sunny during the day, cool at night. Perhaps this fantasy camp can be called Campelot (from here -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot - bit lame I know but it is midnight)
It would have to be a white water run down to a large lake and a small island. A calm, sunny evening with a wild camp amongst the trees and a good campfire to while away the time. Great northern and red-throated diver are calling and the fish jumping...... Canada? Sweden? Scotland?

Isn't Lady J-D a good woman? HAHAHA I smell a good domestic! Hope you've got a dog cause that's who you're going to be sleeping with!

Great thread!
Erm, fantasy camp for me? A well out of the way camp ground, in Canada or Sweden preferably. Open fire cooking beside a mirror calm lake with forest back drop, fresh coffee in the pot. Gazing and listening as the early evening hours bring on dusk and a sunset that will live with you forever.

Nige.
once youve done your fantasy camp it isnt a fantasy anymore
and if it remains a fantasy then youve got a long wait!!
settle for a good camp, which is any weekend camp with like minded friends[/b]
Ah but, If we fulfil these fantasies then we'd just have to fantasise about something else.

I agree with both of you.....
My Fantasy Camp is, as Andy says, a weekend camp with like minded friends.....
Once that's fulfilled, I fantasize about doing it again.....
Cheers
