And the forecast was right................

The Swiss Family Tim along with Simes n co and Martin the Martian were camping with the Camping and Caravanning club at Riverside rally field just a little down stream from Bridgnorth. A Friday night texting flurry with Terry sealed the fate of our trip from Ironbridge to site......It was on!

A few sherberts around the Yukon finished off the night in typical Tim style.

I (as usual) was up first tinkering about, preparing my "stuff" and removing unwanted boats from the Disco. Quarter to nine, I was ready I roused the troops. As it was a bit of a wet'un the girls opted to stay behind and doss about.
Mand dropped the Martian his son Mucky boots (Sam) and me off and Si made his own way. When we arrived at the car park Terry was there just unloading his gear.
With the river quite low the trip had began......Look I was warming up......

We were soon under the Ironbridge.

Jackfield beckoned, however it isn't what it was, the magnetic rock had gone Sad .

Terry ran it

Followed by Simes..

Then the Martian
[Image: 039.jpg]
Then I was going down with BA cam.....with the camera carefully positioned in my BA and set to video. Off I go splash splish splash I was through. I previewed the video and all it showed was my arm the bottom of my boat and the bank..............oh well.

A little play on the waves later, a group of young'uns taking their two star training shoot the wave train, they made it through........just.

It was raining intermittently through out the trip so I was pretty glad I had my dry suit on...

We paddle off chatting away (as you do) when suddenly nout of the blue a gust of wind slammed into our boats stopping them dead in their tracks.

We reached Apley Forge where we had lunch.

After lunch we set off again a little cooler than when we had arrived
[Image: 047.jpg]

A quick paddle blast and we were soon warmed up again.

Now these Martians have eagle eyes just like action man, because poking out the water hidden by branches

was a 'yak paddle.

We past the cave house and hit the " dead water" when suddenly my phone went off, problem my phone was in my trouser pocket, the only way I could access it was through my pee zipRolleyes so there was I floating down stream with my hand between my legs having a right old time trying to get my phone out. It was Red, he'll be there at half three.

Bridgnorth was in site, we passed under the bridge each taking a different arch.

We pulled up at the campsite, sorted out our gear and the Martian took Terry and Simes back to retrieve their cars.

Red finally arrived with his trailer tent............

Yup thats a funny looking trailer tent, he had just picked it up and it was on it's maiden camp.

A few sherbets later it was time for nigh nigh.

A good day out, and a good eve "in"

Thanks to all who attended
Cheers

Hi Tim and clan,

Sorry we where unable to attend this year.

I gota get some of those jet black shades for the winter they go so well with the Bannana suit.Cool

The main reason we couldn't make it was ,the Girls where away at a NWDA youth camp and i had the National go paddle day up at Brown Hills Canoe Centre, it threw it down there to all day to, well just up until we started to pack the bunting away but we managed to get a few new paddlers on to the water, just after they found out all kit and tuition was free.Smile

We had 2 whole familys trying it for the first time and only 1 swimmer who had the whole Ice "Scream" Head treatment poor thing, bet they bring towls with them next time they come through, as we had only 7 clean spare (cue Tim)
Oh Gail went to Drayton Manor with Ellie and the small children from NWDA, it rained there also,Gails fitting in quite well with the other parents they've given her a new nick name,
i think it's quite apt im still Dave the Boat Rolleyes and she's Gail the ORE joy apparently you have to be carefull how you say it and it does sound slightly different after a bottle of wine.

See you soon Dave
Fair looking Trailer Tent Red

Wonder where I've seen one of those caravans before? Judy will be sending me out to buy some yellow paint when she sees it.

BY the way Red, if they have any of those awnings left next time you are in the shop, will you remember to get one for me.

Looking forward to the next paddle, I will organise a trip down the upper Severn soon.

TerrySmile
Oh i forgot to ask,

Did Tim manage to get through Jackfields ok with his boat, i know he can run it iv'e been with him many times when he has, but i remember the last time he ran it ,it was after his canoe,Shy this came to an end when the wall ran out,Sad
Simes do you remember it ,is it why you had those Dark glasses on so you cant see the tears of laughter.Cool
That was a good paddle to as i seem to remember ,that day we lost and found 3 miles later a paddle, must be the time of year.

Not long left now I'm counting down the days to lots of runs, the Lugg oh the LuggWW, a few 2 star training and then testing sessions, then the highlight, the kids wet games.
This i believe is called the challange Race ,Sime's you have been safety cover for the last few years fancy your chances ? I've lost by bow paddler Steve's going House hunting,Rolleyes we could dazzle them with our dry suits,Cool any thing goes don't forget.Devil
Good to see Martin the Martian again, hope to see you soon to for the pencil makeing .

Wow Red I like that - custom made to fit your bodyshape? Whistle
do they make a bigger version that would fit metipi

Ric
Brilliant and well funny TT from all concerned, and some fine pics. Smile

Looks like you all had a great time.

Tim, that sheep feed bag is doing the rounds a bit! Big Grin

Love the new "tin tent" Red, very nice!

Ric, I think its a one size fits all! Although the doorway may be a challenge, there is in fact a second entrance via the ring-pull on the top, and we're all familiar with opening one of them! Big Grin

Nige.
Door? I can't see a door - it must be like a neoprene dry suit surely - sort of flexes enough to allow entry?Big Grin

If its a door that would explain the need to add the tent on the side!

Nice cupboard Red

Spy duck Ducks for cover!Rolleyes
