C-waV "Summer Holiday" 2010
Norfolk Broads
31st July to 7th August
Hi all.
A little over two months to go till the Summer Holiday, I thought it time to start the thread.
For this its third year we will be again basing ourselves at the lovely
Willowcroft campsite at Repps with Bastwick, Potter Heigham, a small well run site with flat pitches and hook-ups on all pitches (except the overflow field). Very friendly, with clean and well maintained facilities.
The river put-in is a short 500yrd trolley portage away. Plenty of possibilities for shuttle paddles.
Away from the paddling there are numerous attractions to visit and Great Yarmouth and various other seaside towns are within reasonable driving distance, so somewhere to take the kids for the day as a bribe to go canoeing the day after.
The previous years we've been very lucky with the weather especially so last year where we almost fried! Not that this is any guarantee of course.
As this is always planned for a full week, you are of course not obliged to attend the whole week. You can if you like just attend the first weekend, or make it a long weekend, whatever you wish to do, you will be made more than welcome.

Note: Willowcroft require pre-booking with deposit, so get your pitch booked early. There has been no agreement with the campsite that this will be any kind of group thing. Last year I took a bit of flak as people who'd booked failed to either show or let the site know they were not coming, consequently pitches reserved with no payment lose money, this is a small site, so please, the booking is your responsibility, and inform the site if your situation changes! Thank you.

This was a great event last year, very relaxed....
I'll certainly be hoping to come down for a night, possibly the first Saturday....
Cheers
Red.
I have booked in from Monday the 2nd to Sat the 7th of August.
I think I got the last pitch on the camp site.

Are they going to open the top field for CwaV'ers like last year?, seemed to work well keeping the riff raff in there own section
Andy.
Been onto Willowcroft this afternoon and booked. at the moment there is no more space on the main-site, and the top field is filling up. There are still some pitches available but this could be a problem if you require a hook-up
Advice from the site is be quick and book!
Nige
Booked in for both weekends again, fri, sat and sun night first weekend then fri and sat night with the alligator the last weekend.
As Nige has said places are available in the top field but are dissapearing fast
Andy.
I'm bumping this thread to see if there are any more takers. I am not aware at the moment of the situation at Willowcroft regarding pitches, they certainly were becoming sparse last week when we booked. However, if there is anyone interested in joining us and you cannot get in at Willowcroft then you could always try The Dog Inn near Ludham, tis in easy reach of Willowcroft only about 20 mins drive away, so joining the rest of us for some canoeing and socialising shouldn't be a problem.
Remember, you can join us for the day, a couple of days, or the whole week, its entirely up to you, just let us know!
The Dog Inn has bascic facilities and no showers. Can't find the phone number at the moment, but will post it up tomorrow.

Oh no they've let the rif raf in!

& me (& Sacha) have just booked the tent in for Friday and Saturday night. Looks like we may be in the overflow field - but we will accept visitors or else we will just come and annoy the rest of you!
Not bothering with a boat as I don't think that half of zig & zag can cope with moving balast and a one armed scary!
I hear the snail racing is on again on friday night - am tempted to bring the pesky ones from the garden - see how fast they race back home!
If there was a bit of news that would lift my mood, this has got to be it!

Boat or no boat, I'm made up.
Spot on Wendy!!

I'm hoping we're in the over-flow field as well.
See you all on Friday.
Nige.
