Details of the new 3* Touring Award have now been publicised.

Would anyone be interested in doing the new award?

Syllabus Here sorry can't post the PDF directly.

Cheers Graeme
I'd be interested Graeme depending on where / when.

Not sure if I fully meet the prerequisites though?

I've done plenty of trips over 3 hrs duration but not done much open water apart from crossing several of the norfolk broads which would be a combination of river / open water.

I've done lots of Kayaking in the past including marathon and sprint racing but not sure I could provide any evidence of this. might be a few photo's knocking around.

Likewise.
to achieve level 2 open canoe do I need to gain 3* kayak?
This is simply for me to take D of E youngsters on a small lake and canals for tester days in opens.

Hi Graeme

Is this thread dead in the water (so to speak), as I am still interested is doing it.

Terry
Hi Terry

No, its just a question of sorting out some dates, we are pretty much booked up now until the 22 November with courses and events at weekends, if there are 5 or 6 that could do it midweek on a Tuesday or Wednesday we could fit it in though?

We do need to apply to the BCU for a course number two weeks before we run the course, so it does need planning before hand on dates.

Maybe with the weather changing now it could be spring course as there are quite a few rescues to do and the water tempreture is dropping we have to consider the risk assessment, unless everyone was happy getting cold and wet or have drysuits.
