Hi - I know this may sound wimpy but, I can't carry my canoeWhistle I love the thing (OT 158) but, it's too heavy out of water. I'm thinking of buying wheels to pull it and saw c-tugs on the web but, thought they were a bit costly (or am I tight as well as weak?). Do any of you wiser people have them or something similar?

I have to car-top it and that in itself is almost impossible mad.

Thanks for any advice (and before you suggest, no I can't swap it for a lighter model...)

Karl
I know what you mean Karl, a 158 is a heavy canoe and besides, the carrying yoke feels flimsy and inadequate anyway.

The C-tug is a costly trolley. scare I have a RUK look-alike which i picked up off E-bay a couple of years ago, very cheap, funnily enough after directing most of Sotp to the same seller, err long before C-waV of course. Anyway, I digress. Can't seem to find the seller anymore, but the real RUK's are quite a bit cheaper, be worth checking them out!

Hope it helps.

Hi

Or just get down to B+Q , buy a sack trolley and hack it to pieces add some pipe lagging and voila, about £12 all in

Andy
Eckla are pretty good quality but I guess a bit pricey too starting at about £70
I have an Eckla, but used a c-tug on a course, if I got another trolley I would get a C-tug,
Thanks for your feedback. I think I'll have to get my wallet out and buy one. Was up in the Lakes over half term - fantastic weather - and could really have done with the helping hand. Coniston was amazing.

Thanks
Hello Keb,
I have a c-tug, yes they are pricey, but they are quite tough. What I like about them, is that they pull apart and re-assemble in seconds, making it very easy to store in the canoe or car, I believe it is because of this, that makes them expensive, but in my opinion, worth it.

Richard.
Knocked one up out of a B&Q sack truck. Fantastic. pneumatic tyres, wheel bearings, capable of carrying too much stuff, and small enough to carry in the canoe.
I use a karitek sea kayak trolley. It collapses down into a neat flat bag and has pretty robust wheels.
