Hi All, just thought I would do a bit of a review on the new Sotp Polycotton Canvas Tarp Dimensions are the same as the other Sotp Tarp.
The Tarp is primarily for Hammocking but of course can be used in other configurations.
Now I have not used this Tarp in anger as yet, cause Ive been to ill to go any further than the Garden.
But I wanted to seal the seams myself, and of course the best way to do it is to deploy the Tarp.
Perhaps a down side to some is the weight nearly 3Kg's so not really a back packers Tarp.
Now the way to deploy a Tarp is all a matter of personal preference, so please don't think that I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs I have my way after many trials have reached what I call the optimum way
After All if the weather is bad ie raining, we need the tarp up PDQ,
also I like to be able to use a ridge of either 3.30m or quickly change to a 4.0m Ridge all Dependant on weather, the 4.0m gives you the extra end cover if rain is wind driven, and obviously it not always easy to find suitable trees to alleviate the problem of Driven rain.
I have asked the Forestry Commission if they would in future plant all trees at a distance of 4.30mtrs apart and to ensure at least on group are south facing. Still waiting for a reply.
Well I will now post a few pics to show how I tension the tarp using the old faithful prussic loops advantage tarp is always under tension and can be adjusted very quickly.

This prussic loop system is the same each end of the Tarp.

The center support loop is just hooked onto ridge line.

This is pic of the old Tarp deployed, the dimensions and loop system are the same on the new Tarp, and I know it will be as good, advantage's, much more fire/spark resistant, and wind noise cut out from flapping.
Hope this all makes some sort of sense, but maybe will be of a little help to anyone contemplating a Hammock. please feel free to ask if unsure about anything.
Best Regards and Happy Hammocking Bill.
good review Bill
