No I'm not going raving evangelical but I'm very very happyjoy

It has been a horrible wet overcast day and it hasn't stopped raining at all but I got sorted this morning and Mrs Deepkeel said - we're doing it regardless of the weather (launching the new canoe that is - clean your minds out) - you're not moping around the house for another week with a long face!

So we loaded the improvised trailer - since the roofrack doesn't fit and off we went to Ellerton lake
( I had proposed the Tees but Mrs D seemed to think Ellerton was shallow and safer!)

The rain got harder and so did SWMBO's determination - she took my best single malt bleep(it was appropriate I suppose!) to baptise Spirit as she launched her into the waterjoy

HOLD ONTO THAT HANDLE - DON'T DROP THAT BOTTLE!Shy (Oh God the anguish!)

So I jump in and I'm off - Oh Hell what am I sitting on!bleep
[Image: DSCF0299.jpg]

Hang on a sec - I'll show you!

See there is a God! I'm here with both the car keys and the whisky

she can't go without me and ....

Who am I to resist temptation?

Anyway I eventually come back to shore for her and off we go together -
take a nice picture of that baby moorhen love...
Hand eye co-ordination - I think not!
how about the baby...

ok pass me the camera - it was one of these
[Image: DSCF0312.jpg]

I think canoeing is great!

what's that stick with the flat plastic bit in the bottom of the canoe for?
That would be your paddle!
I don't need one of those - it goes along quite nicely without me - its fine!

After dropping swmbo ashore I got 10 mins to play on my own - I love it but its a bit of a B****r when the wind gets up and there is only me paddling!

its great solo though!joy
So thanks Graeme for all the advice - the krabs are removed now - just didn't get round to it before the big splash

A Very very happy

Arn't you supposed to remove the security tag before you leave the shop? Big Grin

Looks good on the water joy
Sweet lookin boat...how much does it weigh in at?

Big Grin

We missed the photo opportunity with the moorhens, and the swan, and the albino mallard (might have been a cross of some sort) long before I demanded the camera back!

Not to mention the easy photos of the other water users, the boat with the golf umbrella.........

I think they ask you for money if you do that don't theyDevil

With me and swmbo in it about 3 tons!
this is the standard venture prospector 16 -
Length: 16' 488cm
Width: 35” 88cm
Weight: 79lbs 36kg
Capacity: 937lbs 425kg

Since I have a bad knee and have a back problem - that might seem a bit heavy but since I've settled on a canoe trolly and a trailer - I don't have to do the lifting so the weight (apart from mine) isn't a problemSmile

finding a canoe suitable for moving mountains only took someone with knowledge about these things to give me some advice - for which I'm very greatful and I'm trying hard to build up the discount points for anything else I want to buy - but seriously I don't think there's a better place to go than Doncaster canoes!

It was recommended to me by Graeme and for me he was spot on - its easy to control and feels ultra stable and gives me much more confidence than I had in my old town.

I love it!

Ric
Nice TT, you obviously had a great time :-)
Congratulations Ric' Good to see you got on the water. We'll have to meet up for a paddle out. Mike.
