I'm new in canoeing. I'm after allround canoe. I have read reviews and internet about canoes. I need canoe for solo / tandem use, light as will top it on the car, for lakes / rivers (not hardcore ww) , for fishing , and sailing (If I can get sailing rig like spring creek from usa). I have checked mad river exlplorer 15 rx , Nova Craft Prospector 15 and 16 in royalex and royalex lite,
Nova Craft Pal. What are your suggestions? Any Ideas and advices?
Firstly, a 'Say Hello' on the Say Hello section of the forum would have been better as this thread will probably not be approved until you have done so (its part of the
forum rules
) which was why your last post was not approved.
As for which boat sounds like a Wenonah Prospector 15 would suit your purpose and is a lot lighter than the Nova Craft or Mad River boats.
If you want an outrigger type sailing rig well you would be better buying a Trimaran rather than a canoe perhaps?
Based on the boats you mention I take it price isn't too much of an issue...
I'd go with Graeme but add the NC Bob Special....
I would look at the WNN Prospector 15 rather than the NC Prospector 15 as IMHO the WNN is a better boat all round and the NC Prossie 16 can be too big solo if a breeze picks up...

Sorry for that - I already introduce myself in say hello section.
I'm checking now all venonah prospectors
I have checked nova craft prospector 16 sp3 (very heavy to carry) but on the water really nice, I've checked wenonah prospector 16 rx - on the lake pick up wind easier than nova craft prospector but very light to carry. other interesting canoe I've tried was gatz canadian from some kind of carbon/kevlar material - very light and stiff , nice.
What are your thougths ?

I'd have to disagree with that comment.... IMHO the NC will be worse in wind than the WNN....

Yes I agree with Red, if you are looking at a PE boat go for the Venture Prospector either 15 or 16', If you are looking for a Royalex boat then the Wenonah wins hands down.
The SP3 is a pig to paddle solo in certain conditions and as you have rightly said very heavy to carry especially if you are solo paddling.
The Gatz canoes are beautiful, drool drool!!
Did I hear some one typing out "We-No-Nah Prospector 15"?
I can only do but recommend these fantastic boats (I know I'm biased)
you can paddle flat water....

Well
I'm closer now for 15ft canoe. Probably NC prospector 15 rx (or rx lite) or Wenonah 15ft rx. You recon is good solo and tandem with little camping gears? I have read few reviews in internet and NC prospector is a little bit better all round boat than wenonah prospector. What are your thougths?
Re Prospectors....try them both and pick the one you like, everyone is different I like.....no I love my WNN Prospector so for me the WNN is the better boat, but don't just go on my recommendations. Out of your possible purchases I don't think there is a wrong boat, for they both of them will be right.
Cheers
