Since we have so many great trip tales on the forum, I was wondering if we could have a section where some details of trips actually taken were documented so that other paddlers could make the same journey.

Things like - where to park, where to launch, where to camp, where to stop for refreshments/beverages, what level/grade the paddle is/ the length of the paddle and approximate time to complete.

This way we could build up a resource of paddle trips people could do with all the information at hand. To make it work though, we would have to come up with a standard set of data that could be submitted, with certain fields left blank if not relevant.

I found this http://www.kanoroutes.nl/ which is great but if could organise ours so that the data was more standardised in terms of fields it would be a powerful and useful resource e.g.

Location: River Leam
Parking place at start: Car park next to allotments on Radford Rd, Leamington Spa ( note height restriction 2m)
Launch place: From the end of the car park
Pubs on route: None if paddling upstream
Portages on route: None for 3 miles
Length of paddle: 3 miles
End place: Return to start
etc

Just a thought.

Edit: Okay just seen the "where to go" section. Great - however perhaps we can make more like a database organised by area etc?
Have a quick look under the forum section 'Where to Go' see if that is how you are thinking.
Thanks Sean, you beat me to it. Wink
An excellent thought Kmac, and a good starting point...

As you noticed after your post, in Where to Go there is a "drill down" forum for "Regional Canoe routes", which sounds exactly like what you describe.

The main problem is, that we're not posting up in there often enough (and that means you dear reader... Tongue )... Rolleyes

Maybe your post will spur us all on to take a bit of time and build the information up a bit more.... Question joy

Cheers
Red.
Thanks chaps, spotted the where to go section after my post. Just need everyone t start using it now so will start off with my most recent trip
There are quite a few routes on there already, but the more the merrier joy

This section is a great resource Wink
