Hello

My name is Mark and I live in Reading and have done for the past 27 years. Originally I'm from Essex, a county I still get back to regularly and am very fond of, particularly its rugged coastline.

I have been paddling for the best part of 25 years, mainly kayaking and surf-skiing. I recently bought a canadian (Old Town Discovery 158) with my partner and we are having a lot of fun paddling on the Thames and the Kennet. We're off to the Wye Valley in September, staying at Hay-On-Wye, so any advice about that will be gratefully received!

I have many other interests including photography and music - I play piano and trombone. As for work (which is something I do in my spare time), I am a social worker in a fostering team, my role focussed on foster carer training.

I look forward to chatting with you all and maybe bumping into some of you as we venture out around the country in "Ollie".

All the best
Mark
Welcome to CwaV Mark, welcome
Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum....Wave

If you're up for it, a weekend meet to go Surfing in the 'acks sounds like fun....joy

With regards the Wye, there is a waterproof Wye Guide book available, I have an electronic copy of the old one that I can send you if you wish.., also have a look at Out n About's blog here, this will give you an idea of mileage and getin's/out's etc.

Hope to see you on the water soon.

Cheers
Red.
