Ok I'm going to just jump right in and say that this forum and you all just fascinate me. I have a lot in common with all of you because I also love to paddle but what is so interesting to me is all of the little things that are different. For example some of your equipment I have never seen before. While you are going on about the tripod I am staring at that cool little firebox and wondering where do you get something like that? Did you make it? Does it fold? What is that round pot looking thing pictured under the tripod? Is that a stove as well? I hope you don’t mind my inquisitive nature but I just gota know.
I still need to know and am waiting with anticipation. Help me out.
Dave
David sorry. The firebox is a Yukon, made by a fellow called Chris Randal. Slot together construction, extremely favoured over here as open fires are often frowned upon

Great for canoe tripping.
More details on his website

Interestingly Chris has recently moved to Canada.
The round pot thing is indeed a stove, a Trangia, uses a simple meths burner located inside the middle of the pot shaped upper.
Hope this helps.
Nige.
I love that little firebox. There are places where I could sure use it.
A fire pan is bulky and cumbersome. I have some folding grills that are
great but don’t stand up well. The review by Tim was great but the web siteappears to be down. Any information on where they are sold? Or is that out of the question?
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave, Chris Randle the guy who makes the Yukon is moving to Canada at some stage, not sure if he has gone yet or if he will be making them again, there is a web site some where with instructions to make one yourself.....Just can't remember the name of it.......it's too early to think....need coffee...
Cheers
Tim

Yes he has, went some weeks ago, however, I understand he is intending to keep selling the fireboxes with the help of friends!
David, the link in my last post is working, but just in case , here it is again.

Nige.
Ok Nige thanks, that link worked. I have sent him an email and maybe we can open up a market for him here in Tx. I would love to have one by the weekend before Halloween. That is when we go to Caddo Lake and haunt Goat Island at an event we call Caddoween.
