Spent a week staying at Sunny Bank on Coniston - a walking holiday with a bit of canoeing. I had hoped to get Mrs B into a canoe to show her the delights of life afloat, but alas she broke her hand on Dow Crag, which put paid to any paddling by her. So, I was only able to get out on the lake in short bursts on my own.

No sooner had Biff arrived in the Lakes than it started to rain - well, the Lakes did need topping up. Drove past Thirlmere - it was half empty!! However, Coniston rose a foot or two while we were there, so I wasn't complaining too much.

Still - visited Wild Cat Island (or Peel Island)

The 'Secret' Harbour.

The 'Landing' Place

I'd never read the books ('Swallows and Amazons'), so, after finding the first two ('Swallowdale' is the second) in a second-hand bookshop, they became my holiday reading.

Kanchenjunga from Wild Cat Island, perhaps. (Coniston Old Man, actually)

Thanks for reading.
