Just to keep this one in peoples minds, I've done a little digging and have some light reading for interested parties....

As the weekend of the 15th is the last where we are permitted to paddle from Builth Wells to Hay until October 2009 it would be a waste to miss the opportunity...

"The first day was to be the most challenging and exciting stretch of water from Builth down to our campsite destination at the Hollybush Inn, some 19 miles in total"

From Martin Jordan's epic earlier this year....

http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/s...tin+jordan

A guide from the Wye and Usk Foundation...

http://www.wyeuskfoundation.org/navigati...asbury.pdf

Martin's TT is pretty comprehensive but if anyone has a copy of the riverguides that the canoe hire firms down there give to customers a scanned copy might come in handy...Whistle

joy
I 'may' be able to get along for this weekend. Smile
If you don't mind
A big thanks to Redframe for taking on the route planning Rolleyes

Big thanks to BB for organising the choir Whistle

Hi.

I would like to put my name down - I can always portage the bumpy bits.

Got to check with the boss, though.

Biff,

Read Martin's TT, I'm sure that'll give you more confidence...Wink

I did :

Quote:The day lived up to all expectations with only one minor mishap, when the B team swamped and had to self-rescue
Rolleyes

but as they said

Quote:Descretion is the better part of valour so it's said - so we decided to portage the grade 3 Hells Hole and keep the boats, kit and ourselves in working order!

Just see what it's like on t'day. joyILLjoy

Haven't paddled the Wye for a while. Did the upper, upper down as far as Hell Hole over a couple of days.

But will be on L. Ericht and around Ben Alder then.

As March is turning more than a little mad for weekends I'm giving this one a shameless bump....Wink

Hi, Guys.

Biff's just back, early, from the Frostbite. I'm going to have to pull out of this meet as well, I'm afraid. My ardor has been 'damped' a little Sad.

See you in Wales.

I feel it's a pitty that we're not going to take advantage of the "paddling season" on the Wye, but if we're not going as a pack, then we're not going...I feel that we need at least three boats for this to be a go...so...

As a final request, to make it clear, if you're up for it copy and paste.., if your not up for it, don't post....
