I was thinking on the same line as Sean,,,,,, but to be sensible
Fibreglass would be my prefered choice, lighter, warmer and still sink, Alloy are OK if you put heatshrink on them to keep your paws warm in winter
Carbon hard to come by and not worth the extra money IMHO.

I had the same dilema a while ago. The thing that struck me at the Welsh symposium was that ALL the coaches used aluminium. So thats what I got, reckon something to be said if they prefer them. Plus its cheaper, tougher doesn't 'flutter' as much and with heat shrink applied is still warm on the hands. But hey, since when have you listened to me?

Aluminium is OK but cold as everyone says, I use a fibreglass one at the moment that has a little flutter in deep water but its lighter and feels nicer in my hand, Carbon are OK but they have a little too much flutter I found when I borrowed one.

Thanks guys and girls, Lee I think I will take your advice and just borrow yours
bring it with you on the 28th old chap. By the way I thought it was fibreglass

flutter and bend in a pole can depend on the weight and strength of the user
