Hee, Hee, the excerpt below should be interesting....(Well for me at least...

)
3* WW Kayak - Trainers Notes Wrote:A.3 Reverse over a fig of 8 course. Accuracy as well as efficiency is the key. The ability to paddle a reverse figure of eight course requires the students to have developed a range of reverse paddling strokes and techniques. It is for this reason that it is included in the test. During training the students must have been introduced to a wide variety of strokes and techniques. Wind awareness and boat trim (particularly in short boats) will again play an important underpinning role in a skilful performance.

A Whitewater Safety and Rescue Course is available on request (for those that survive

Anyone fancy joining up in convoy over to Ellerton from our side of the continent....
We'll be leaving at about 13:00 on Friday...
Cheers
Red.
would do but we are not leaving until later about 2.30 from Junction 16
I have been asked by John at Ellerton to make things easier for them to collect all the campsite and water fees rather than them chasing around, so could you all please come and find us when you arrive. To make it easier to find us we will have a light blue beach flag flying with Mohawk on it.
The fees are as follows:
Tents
£3.00 per adult per night
£2.00 per child under 16 per night children under 5 Free
Caravans/Motorhomes
£5.00 per night
Lake Launch Fee
£5.00 per adult per day
£3.00 per child (under 16) per day
The barrier will be open from 08.00 Friday morning so you can just drive in and park up, as some people have already arrived should not be too difficult to spot the camp field which is just on the left as you go through the barrier. The shower and toilet block is open 24 hours and drinking water is available on site.
As it is going to be a busy weekend with a lot to get through, can I ask you all to meet up by our van/trailer at 09.00 on Saturday morning to meet your coaches for the day so shuttles and details will be sorted.
For those of you doing the 3* awards you will be off site on Saturday so you will need kit and food/drink packed ready for the day. The 3* SWWC will be off site on both days.
See you all tomorrow.
Unfortunately due to the lack of numbers we will not be running the FSRT, we will be covering rescue techniques and throwline work which is part of the FSRT but will not be able to issue a certificate.
Mind you last year we put 21 people through the FSRT in the weekend so many that are returning this weekend have already completed it.
On another point can you all please bring your BCU membership cards with you if you have one as we need proof to offer give the reduced rate for the awards. No card no discount sorry.
Thank you to everbody who organised / coached and made the weekend great. we had a great time and learned loads. It has made us both better paddlers and given us plenty to think about. Specific thanks to Graeme for organising the weekend, John for the 1st class coaching and Gareth for passing us all even if i did have to get in a dirty boat lol.
Roll on next year and the 3 * trad.
Pics to follow soon.
Greg
