Well after some intense tuition i will hopefully be able to write and post some pics of my canoes construction,

Here goes
most of the hard work was making jigs for the router and working out spacings for seats, yoke etc, made it all in softwood for a start to see if i could do it without cocking up the lovely ash timber.

Fastening the inner gunnels together prior to routing

Routing slots in inner gunnels

Then i had to make a router table to carry my router so to make the job Easier/Safer, this rounded the edges of the slots

This bit completedSmile Note safety equipmentWhistle Don't Know why it's small?

Then it's time to see if they fit where i want them!

Now it's on with the outer gunnels

Then the other side

This is my favorite picture as it shows the natural curves on the canoe prior to yoke fitting

Deckplates glued up and in position

Then it's time for the seats, dowelled, glued and screwed

Glued and cramped together

Sorry hav'nt any more pics of seats but this was at the end of saturday afternoon last juneSmile

Having seen this in Norfolk it is indeed a commendable job. Very high quality workmanship and one of the finest examples I have seen, that includes all canoes not just home finished ones. Now about my thwart we discussed a couple of weeks ago Whistle
Top marks Andy, excellent build blogg.
A lovely job you made of her. Indeed one of the finest out there.
fantastic job Andy, wish I'd had the skill to do some of the things you've managed, love the idea of the slotted gunwhales,
looks like these Apaches are becoming a big part of the open canoe scene, must be a few of them out and about now,
Why bother with Green or Red with black plastic when you can have Ivory and nice Ash, all it needs now is Cwav sticker and it will look the "dogs"
once again great job
I have to say Andy's fitting out job is the dogs the workman ship is spot on and makes the finished article look the business. Wink

Rolleyes Nicely done and well turned out.

TGB
Fantastic craftsmanship. Lovely work.

Nice router jig!

And where most people have a TV you seem to have an Apache Cool
Just doing some trimming of my inner gunwales and wondered what size that router bit was. I have used 6mm and it looks way too small in comparison.

But then I have beams for gunwales anyway...
