Equinox overnighter.
Hi all, planning an overnighter for Friday/Saturday the 18th/19th September on the Caldon canal if anyone is interested. Unfortunately though numbers will be limited for between 6 and 8 as the area we will be occupying is not that big!

Read the Summer Solstice "Trip Tale".

and

An Overnighter on the Caldon Canal.

To whet your appetites.

Will post date, times and parking grid ref/postcodes, up later.

RE: Equinox overnighter.
Excellent news Biff. It'll be great to hook up again.

Sorry forgot to mention. This will be a Friday overnighter only with Saturday spent paddling the canal with pub stop (monster baguette) etc. joy We have to be away late Saturday afternoon. But it doesn't stop others staying over for another night if they wished.

oh yes matey,
its been rather a long time...

now can i just mention something that may eliminate a little problem that we had last time i visited this great little spot...

"Firewood"
no
"Dry Firewood"
as in
"Not damp Firewood"

it doesnt burn very well, and is really hard to light,
keeps going out all the time,
another firelighter - fire goes out
a splash of meths - fire still goes out
a splash of Grizzly's moonshine - fire still goes out and it dissolves the galvanised bucket too...Cheers
what about breaking up Grizzly's guitar and throwing that on...Whistle
err...
ok what about Jammys hat...
ok thats still wet from floating down the river...Whistle

did i mention

"Dry Firewood" Rolleyes

Did you say DRY FIREWOOD? A ventilated fire-bucket might also help. We could drill some holes in Jammy's jam-pan Devil OH, and a pristine copy of 'Canoe Focus' Whistle (note - remember to remove plastic envelope)

I might be able to help - got a bbq bucket from B&Q (£10) which could double as a fire-bucket joy

Cheers

RE: Equinox overnighter.
Hey great, Tim and Keith. joy

Will we be giving the river a go again?

Who will be chief firelighter, as Andy can't make it there is only one logical choice. How about it Sean have you honed those fire lighting skills since the last time? Devil

RE: Equinox overnighter.
Ooops! Forgot to mention.

Only one or two places left now!

Can't fit many more on Bills plot. I do hope he's been and leveled it off and re-turfed it, maybe he's popped in a fire pit and some posts for hammocks as well. Wink
