News: Graeme Brautigam 11/04/1955 - 28/06/2010

Monday 28th June 2010, the Canoe and Kayak world was shocked by the news that it had lost Graeme Brautigam of Doncaster Canoes.

Graeme was extremely active in promoting, coaching and helping in all areas of the sport, Opens, Touring, Slalom, Polo, Sit on Tops and more...!

He was, quite possibly, the best salesman you would ever want to meet, if he felt you would be better served buying a Boat, BA, Pole, Blade(s), Cag, Deck, Drysuit...., in fact anything wet, from another supplier, he would tell you there and then, AND give you their contact details, A very rare thing in this day and age....

Graeme worked on Trust, Friendship and most of all Service, he provided an unparalleled wealth of knowledge to paddlers, both old and new, and delivered that knowledge in a way that only he could....

Graeme was also very active coaching voluntarily with local groups in the Doncaster area and, after a full days work, would often be seen standing on the bank, providing fun and encouragement to the next generation of paddlers....

With his loss, a hole has been punched right through the heart of the paddling world, and those that knew him feel sorry for those that will not have the benefit of his experience and knowledge in the future....

As an aside, and I'm sure he would chuckle at this one..... Graeme had many, many contacts in this world, but after 7 weeks without rain, he's only been up there for a few hours, and he's already sending buckets of it down on the Welsh hills.....
