Canoe Poetry by John Adam
Solitude is in my space
Surrounded by a deep dark night
Nothing there to reflect my face
Only my smile is burning bright
To be alone yet not alone
In this place of space and time
Is a comfort from the tone
Of earning penny or dime
My thoughts drift wide and near
My wife, her face I so do adore
But yet her image brings a tear
Je suis l’amour
To relax my pose against the tree
And look to the sky at night
Is freedom for only me to see
My moment of contrite
Yet it’s with blessing I am here
She sent of to play alone
Amongst the forest and the deer
Three hundred miles from home
I will return from solitude
The worldly balance redressed
My faith in mankind all renewed
And no longer bloody stressed
Thank you for solitude
