Canoe Poetry by John Adam
When ever I have to face my devil and reassess my life
I take my canoe to water, to view and remove the strife
Ullswater a Cumbrian winter lake.
by John Adam
When out at night
Without a light
The water's looking cold
It only takes a little effort
To find I'm feeling bold
The silent shh.. of water lapping
Is erie being on my own
A quite still world is mapping
Whilst I'm frozen to the bone

And yet I'm ready
A sense of adrenalin onboard
To move in to my new world
Where lesser people have soared
My canoe, a mohawk
Awaits for my alight
A paddle to the ready
To the lake for that first bite
I look ahead
A picture thus unfolds
off the moon and shadows
Where the fells unfold
And so with gentle push
A wake with secret hush
Is all for me to hear
As my soul, seeks my fear
A rise a fall
Upon this wavy motion
A gentle sway of heart
Is all this magic potion
In a gentle rythm
Of paddle and heart as one
Sends me on in venture
Captivating what I have done
A cold gleam beneath me
Is pitch from deep below
But yet..
I'm Conforted contented
No longer feeling low
Further from the shore I drift
In control at last
My emotion also in control
Negating a dark recent past....
On wonder glory I am ecstatic
The orange glow glow above the hill
No shimmer of light or water
Like me the world is still
